Spring Dingaling
Blustery Days: While DG's house is drowning up North, ours it trying to keep a firm grip on our foundation. If the rain *we* got didn't already fill up our swimming pool to near the top, the bucket would be 3 times as full of the neighbors' dogwood blossoms as we would hope to get. It's no use trying to strain it out, it just all blows back in.
And speaking of things blowing back in- it's certainly been awhile since I've last blogged. I've been busy:
Code Upload: with XHTML taking over for DHTML, I've had to buy the upgraded books and learn the new syntax while trying to work on my Dad's website and my own at the same time. More on that in a minute.
New Cuttings: Feb. was harvest time for my hair and in a completely unprecedented move, I decided not only to cut it short, but also to layer it with the intent of styling it. Not only that, but 8 weeks later I went back for a trim and came thiiiiiiiiiiis close to cutting it even shorter. (!!!!!) No pix yet, drats.
Blustery internet: DSL was installed here at the house just this Thursday and now I'm happier. I can actually download and listen to PotterCast within half an hour instead of the usual 4-5 hours. I've missed waaaaaaaaaaay too many shows because of that. iTunes and I still aren't friends tho- I need more RAM for that apparently. :-P
/~rainbowheron/: Coming soon- all of my websites will have my own name in the url for the first time EVER! Artie's website is already up; I'm working on others now. Looks like all those years of layout changes without uploading might actually have some benefit. :-)
The new Blogger: So far, not interested yet. Need more HTML'ing done.
Follow the Yellow Brick Road: As you may recall, I've been less sick and more outside these days. I laid the third (and so far biggest) YBR this month and ended up with a weekend of hurt as a result. Last November we had to buy out the rest of Lowes' supply of it because they were discontinuing it after only 1 year. :.-(
Cactus Growingupus: Some of my cactii has died, some of my cactus has grown. We bought a cheapo greenhouse for all of our outdoor potteds this winter and everyone survived. The now-dead cactii was already dying by then, others are still deciding if the transplantations were worth it. One in particular knows it was worth it because it's now so big it almost can't return to the greenhouse ever again.
Cats!: Our neighbors got 2 new cats (one ran away) last fall. We think the the one that stayed has been catching the birds that frequent our new feeder. We also think she's about to have her first litter anyday now.
VANdalism: While the green van was stolen and returned a few years ago, our new van in the fleet appears to be attracting the attention of a young neighbor who's been getting out at night cuz she's left some stuff in it. This new red van is replacing Dad's beloved Chinese red 1986 Ford Taurus stationwagon which finally pooped itself out and pissed Mom off for the last time.
Advice for tricotilomaniacs: buy and use some harmony balls. I'm hoping mine will help me kick the habit.
and finally- Harry Potter film 5 and book 7: I CAN'T WAIT!!!!!
