Moving and curling

Moved my first bit of stuff into the new house! Actually it's the first bit of ANY of our stuff into the new house.

We also may have a new pal on afj for a while: Paul from AMWA wants to learn about curling!

Maybe we could just curl our belongings into the new house and get it all over with?

"Your site doesn't seem to be a load of crap!"

Someone said this to me in an email today regarding my Ian site (the 3L). Apparently he likes my site, but the way he put it made me smile! :-) Ok so it busted out laughing when I read that (I even took a double-take initially), but it's all well and good so...GOOD! :-D LOL!!!

Some people just have this way of putting things. :-) ...Thanks John! Mind if I use that sentense?

I guess this means I should go update it now, eh? ...(actually that's not a bad idea)

YIPEEEE!!!! I got my Zam Wesell figure today!!! Or rather I got *2*! I didn't know there were 2 different versions of Zam Wessel!!! I just thought that the figure shown on the back of the regular AOTC figures was the "preview" one. Nope!

Spoiler Spies

Now that I've finished the book for AOTC, I must say that even without seeing the movie, the vast majority of all the spoilers that got out over the past 3 years were extremely accurate. VERY EXTREMELY ACCURATE!

That said, I will definately be going spoiler-free for Episode 3. I should not have to read a book that fast and know that much of the story before I see a trace of it. I only read books fast when I already know what's going to happen. I'm not sorry that I read spoilers this go-round because it's good to have that experience. But I am sorry that if the spoilers were that accurrate, then it must be causing Lucas headaches and must at least be very saddening for those in his employ who worked so hard to keep the spies out.

One thing's for sure- George Lucas needs to have tighter security this next go 'round. My best suggestion for him is to run a disinformation campaign and to recruit people who are well-versed in online Star Wars spoiling.

Now that I've been both spoiled and spoiler-free, I believe that being spoiler-free is the best...for everyone, including the fans and especially for Lucasfilm. I feel very sad for Lucas and his crew. The spies were too accurate, and judging from the kinds of info they were able to uncover, they are FAR too aggressive. There's a reason they call it "spoiled" after all. It's rather selfish of the fans really. It's a distraction to the filmmakers and it's extremely greedy to want to know what's going to happen before it happens.

There's another very important word here: Patience. "And sacrifice being on edge for three years?" "If you honor what they're doing for you, yes."

Spoilers are bad things. VERY bad things. I'm sorry Mr. Lucas. I really am.

afjp: nothing

afp: the afp vs afp picked up again. I know the denial bit is part of it, but I'm scared that it's eating at me the wrong way. I really should email him about it before it goes sour.

amwa: "trolls trolls trolls I'm so sick of trolls..." tried to shoo out a new cross-poster and the creeps chimed back in. Apparently the rmgroup messages didn't work cuz they mentioned the groups to my face for once. :.-P That is SO not nice. I hope there's a worldwide restructuring of Usenet where all control messages are valid and trolls are kicked out for good within the first month.

aso: ARQ seems to be a borderline person cuz she's on just that edge of meanness. Part of me still thinks she's Jenni-Greg. Apparently there were some responses to a previous reply of mine that never made it to my server, but showed up on Google, so I replied the c/p way.

rassm: the afp vs afp carried over here a bit and this is where it eats at me the most- yes it should end. So should the Sifo-Dyas stuff cuz the guy's just beginning to turn nasty and he's forcing me to repeat myself. Time to stop it. Still lots of Newbies. I finished the book, but I still haven't seen the movie. :-(

aai: BUSY! The proposal/idea from last night got quite a few responses (as far as this group goes). I volunteered and I'm expecting an email. I might have another website job and for the first time, it'll be a collaboration...meaning, it ain't one of my sites. ;-)

State of the ngs

I thought about this in a-blog last night and I've decided that when I start talking about how things are going in the newsgroups and mailing list I read, I really should put them here and not on a-blog cuz it's really not right for a-blog unless there's a particularly bad personal rant I need to get out of my system.

So that said, here's what it looks like to me so far as of right now:


afjp: I posted a day or two but no answer yet. Hinthinthint DG! :-)

afp: the afp vs afp gnomewar seems to have been resolved? Anyway, nothing really new. :-( <sigh>I wish some of those Palpy/Sid/Sifo discussions would make their way to afp.

amwa: had a birthday to add to the list and apparently the revenge groups are either still up or they're gone but you can still post to 'em (which is odd but explainable). I sent some booster rmgroups messages just to be sure.

aso: nothing really. Jenni-greg's been posting again tho very little. :-P When will that faker just go-a-freaking way?!

rassm: the Sifo-Dyas threads continue, but I'm not gonna answer them for tonight until I finish the book. ;-) Lots of newbies and lots of reviews. Kothos and my sigs have met (read: potential siggy fun here!). I'm loving the "new Star Wars movie" buzz but I kinda want the Sith Wars to come back. Ok- I REALLY want the Sith Wars to come back. :-) I also want to see the freakin' movie!!!!

aai: kinda quiet recently. Probably cuz everyone's out watching the movie. :-) Only 2 posts total today...<checks email again and finds a new one>...better make that 3! <sends 2> Ok so keeping tabs is a bad idea...

book before movie

Finally broke down after a-blogging last night and started reading the AOTC novel. I got maybe 88 pages read last night and right now I'm on p249. <pause for emphasis> Let it be known that I NEVER read this quickly.

I once pulled off reading a YJK novel in one day, but those were like only 150-215 pages long max.

Sluggy...no not my couch or the comic

We had a little visitor last night in the den. He was long, slender, brown, a little slow, but really really cute!

I'm talking about a little slug. :-) A slug is basically a snail without a shell and snails are good guys in my book...ergo slugs are cool too. No I didn't introduce this little guy to my couch, but I did go over to speak to him.

It's amazing the amount of control they have over their bodies- they can turn on a dime...no, something smaller than a dime. They can make a hairpin turn instantly. Yes it takes a bit longer for them do do that, but if you put a finger in their way, they'll just go around it and leave about half a millimeter in between themselves and you. Like a little hug.

Amazing little guys. I put him in the bushes before he could slime up the carpet. Now we know who's been leaving the little tell-tale trails on the front walk. ;-) Hope he's doing okay...

Ah...Borders

At last! Success! We have borders and I have been off having fun making templates based partly upon them. Well, it gave me a bit of HMTL Inspiration anyway. I might just update the rest of my websites now that I have a unifiying template at last.

Cool! Been making bricks out of tables- or is it tables out of bricks? Nah, it's bricks out of tables.

I'm getting old

I found my first grey hair today. <gape...blank stare> I'm only 20 years old and I love having my brown/red/auburn/chestnut/black hair. Yes that color combo is natural; my hair likes to change color on me (so do my eyes but that's a different story).

48 Hours

Ok so here's the deal: I have some weird neurological damage that's been hell to treat, partly because it's hell getting a good doc who can and will help. This Wed, I'm going in for my 3rd overall EEG and this time, this doc (a new one) wants me to be majorly sleep-deprived so that I'll get really good and sick and the whole she-bang will show up on the EEG.

Problem: the longest I've ever stayed awake is about 38 hours and I was in SO much pain that I never wanted to do that again. So now here I am, forced to top it for the sake of getting me well. Now don't get me wrong, I want to get well, it's just that...well...I get cranky when I'm sleep-deprived (hell, I get cranky when I'm getting nerve attacks but still) and I'll be online a good bit of the time that I'm trying to stay awake. I'm hoping to post some fun stuff here for the last half of the ordeal, so please don't be surprised if you see a little crankiness in there as well. 'Kay?

I'm still my normal sweet, serious, and silly self...I'm just VERY sleepy. Gotta go eat now- bye!

RH/Alice and Alice and CBS Alice

At last! Someone else has seen the Alice in Wonderland that was on CBS way back in the 80s!!!! I've had some close calls but this time we found a cigar! This is also my first-ever link to someone else's blog post! You have made my day Squee.Gee!!!!

I've had this lifelong love for Lewis Carroll's classic 2 Alice tales, when I was extremely young, I even used to pretend that I was Alice's twin sister or at least a part of her subconcious. Like her, I am a very curious cat and I like to feed my brain almost as often as I feed my stomach, so it's no wonder I took the name Alice in the Sith Wars. So I'm an Alice Freak! :-D

One thing about Alice and Alices is that Hollywood has yet to portray the classic tales -yes there are two- correctly. I have seen 3 versions so far (not that there are many to begin with) and here's the low-down:


Disney- blue dress: Meshed Wonderland with Looking-Glass Land shamefully and threw everything out of order. Good for beginners, but don't take it seriously. Nice Mome Raths tho. First VHS we ever bought and I often watched it at other peoples' houses when they babysat me.


CBS- red dress: Full seperation of Wonderland and Looking-Glass Land and they made an honest attempt to make a transition from one to the other...even if it did completely elimiate the original endings for both and beginning for Looking-Glass. Most accurrate factually and my personal fav. Mom thought the Jabberwocky might scare me, but being attuned to dragons (Pete's Dragon) I wasn't scared. Wow, they even credited the guy in the suit! It's a whopping 3+ hours long but it makes a GREAT day!


NBC- yellow dress: I hate this one (rant alert). I don't like the actress and I don't like the line-up of these actors/actresses, and the overall ensemble isn't very good. They just didn't feel their characters like the CBS group did. I was also disappointed by folks who *should* have been good but weren't. :-( Gene Wilder (whom I usually like a great deal) was only an okay Mock Turtle and Christopher Lloyd will always be Doc Brown...not the White Knight. Yes my paritality to Lloyd Bridges (so THAT'S who that was! You can't read the credits well on the tape) as the White Knight plays a factor but still... They tried their best to stay in Wonderland, but they threw in some Looking-Glass Land for some unknown reason, and they didn't even TRY to make it fit (cuz it can't but still). The only thing it had going for it was that it had the most accurate dialog and a few more accurate plot points, but they looked terrible. Even that aside, I still don't like this one. They also had that damn lens filter thing that MTV fans are fond of- WAY too much yellow! UGH!


Btw, I saw those in that exact order. I taped the NBC one but since the tape never got labeled, it's probably lost. Thank goodness I taped the CBS one, and now I almost can't believe that it's listed in the IMDB or that it's available on tape!!!! Thank you Squee.Gee!!!! Man, I hope they put the CBS one on DVD!!! Now I just need the DVD player...
