My First Tarantino
The house was loud for about a week, so my folks & I decided to "dinner & movie" it off and on that week. "Inglourious Basterds" was one of them. Now I'd never seen a Quentin Tarantino film before, but what I knew of him was "too much sex, violence, and mobseters". Well, I'd forgotten he directed this film until the opening credits.

The sex lasted about 5 seconds, the violence...I've seen worse (but I don't recall seeing scalping before), and there were no mobsters- just Nazis (as if there were much difference there). The comedy was well-balanced with the drama/war and I liked the "chapters" bits. It's based on a fantasy WW2 novel cuz Hitler just didn't die that way- which was a shame.

There should be awards for the cinema set decoration, the music, and if Christoph Waltz doesn't get *at the very least* an Oscar nomination for Col. Hans Landa then we're going to have problems. Brad Pitt may be from Oklahoma but does a damn good job of pretending to be from Kentucky.

Overall, I think it was a great film and I'd buy it. Just close your eyes during the "craftsmanship".
