Any other midnight vigils?
Anybody else here get in line at midnight Friday/Saturday night for Harry Potter 5?
Yeah me neither.
I pre-ordered the book so I was able to walk in at our leisure and pick it up. I picked up all 5 today actually and -get this cuz this NEVER happens (even beats K-PAX III)- I actually read the ENTIRE first book today! Maybe I can finish the series by mid-July so I can hurry up and get back to LOTR which I haven't picked back up since finishing Silmarillion. :-/
Anyway, nice to see there were some other more sensible people out there. Hey DG, did you have to work today? Was it nuts for you up there?

Now that's just scary
The ad up top right now is talking about sleep disorders. I swear y'all, the generator behind those ads must be trolling the actual blogposts for the relevant things to advertise on the blog. I've noticed the same things on others' blogs too.
Freaky weird.
That ad almost scares me now. <eyes ad>
I wonder if you could adbomb that thing the way you can Googlebomb. Hmm, lesse...can that ad peddle me something on...<fights back the RASSM'er urge to yell out HLA(tm)> BARREL OF MONKEYS!
If that ad comes up with something along those lines, then we'll know that the ad for sure reads the blogs. Freaky weird ad spider crawler dude...

<waves to roomcam>
Not only do they have this eeg stuff cemented to my head and thus have a computer on all the time, but they've also got a video camera amd microphone on too. There's also a monitor that stares right back at me and I don't think anybody looks good with electrodes on their head (under a painful wrap) and seated on a hospital bed with bad lighting in the room.
While I've never seen one, I imagine webcams are a bit like that.

Fish Frenzy
Artie's a big hit at the hospital. I'm SO glad I brought him cuz with all of this stuff glued & taped onto my head, it's not possible to use a regular pillow without EXTREME discomfort. Artie, on the other hand, fits under my neck just fine and nothing gets in the way of the EEG stuff. As a result, the nurses and doctors who keep coming in and out of my room all think he's wonderful. Not because he's my pillow, but because he's my fish. :-)

The Dance of the Hours
I officially got up at 7:30am on Saturday morning and officially went to sleep at 12:00am on Monday night. I took a 15-minute nap (I think, but it's not really being counted) within the first 4 hours. During Sunday and Monday at various times, I would be SO tired that I would appear to fall asleep for literally [half a second] and it happened SO often and SO quick that we can't really count those. I also tried to get a 30-minute nap within hour #47 (5am on Monday) but because there had been so MUCH of that half-a-second stuff, that I couldn't really tell if I slept or not. Even when I got up, it felt like I took 30 mins to get up even tho it was closer to 30 sec!
So, if these 3 things aren't counted (and let's face it, we really can't cuz we really can't confirm due to the time warp and the fact that Mom was often experiencing the same thing), I was awake for 66.5 hours!
Yeah, 66.5 wowie. I had no idea I could do that. I musta gotten about 4-6 winds cuz there were times each day where it felt like just a regular day and the nights were split up amoungst the previous ones if I even remembered them at that moment. It's nice that my body tried not to make a big deal about it, but believe you me, I'd never wish to be in a profession that forces you to keep those kinds of hours.
66.5 hours. New house record and one that I'm *quite* content to leave standing! :-)

VANdalism
Ok here's what happened: when Dad and I got back in from driving around to keep me awake, the lot for the hotel was completely full so the guy at the front said to park under the streetlight in the adjacent "vacant" parking lot. Earlier in the day, it looked pretty patetic and didn't look much better at night. The guy said he parked in that spot all the time and since there was nowhere else to park, we parked there. While walking back to the hotel, Dad got this sudden feeling like the car wasn't locked or something and went back to check on it. It was fine so we went in.
Come daylight, we look out the window to the parking lot. To me, it looks fine: a dark van and another car that musta pulled in after us. So we haul all our stuff outside and rather than haul it all the way out to the van, Dad went to go get the van to bring it to us. In about one minute, Dad walks back to us and says: "I can't bring the van around cuz it ain't there."
That's right: SOME BASTARD STOLE OUR VAN!!!
Maybe it was because I was so out of it cuz it was the 47th hour, but after walking the entirety of both lots (didn't really have to on the second one- the wrong van and the reddish suv were the only 2 vehicles there), we went inside and called the cops. I was really sour and kept watch over the bags like a hawk. A couple of folks asked us about it (news travels fast in the breakfast foyer) and I was the first of us to talk w/the cops. After some talking, Mom & Dad had to go do legal stuff and check out the parking space.
Meanwhile, Aunt C had to come get Dad after I got settled into my room and the cops started looking at towings. On the news when they mentioned carjackings and stuff, for the first time I wondered legitimately if it was our car/van. No luck yet and insurance won't cover theft either.
The very first thing I ever tie-dyed was a "spray-dye" for a pillowcase. That pillowcase was in the van. Need I say more?
4:13p 6/17/3
UPDATE: I learned later that Dad had taken the bag with said pillowcase out of the van before we left. (whew!) We also still hadn't put the removeable rear seat back in the van either...[11:20pm 6/20/3]
JUST REMEMBERED: As we were driving out of town, we passed the same hotel and we saw that the "wrong van" was still there. Dad stopped the car and decided to go check that van out again. It was parked immediately next to where ours had been and I originally thought that someone had stolen our car and replaced it with this one. We were both right: Dad wrote down the license number and we stopped in at the cops to get a copy of the report and they ran the plate. The blue van was stolen too. Greeeeeeat.[1137pm 6/20/3]

Say, where's that smacker?
There was only 1 member of the major bombad posse that was able to come with me. He's long and thin and if they cram my neck, he'd be great for trying to straighten me back out again (hopefully). What's funny is that Mom had oysters with dinner and I got to keep the shell for said member... :-) And no it wasn't smoking.

I can't have much credibility...
If I show up to an ultra-serious seizure-seeking sleep study and I have a Jigglypuff, a Beanie Baby, and a Star Wars figure in my purse. But we aren't telling the docs and nurses about that. ;-)
WHAT?! Don't look at me like that! I wanted to take the team and make them come to *me* cuz I hate being away from my workstuffs when I'm staying up late. You'd never be more greatful for those seemingly-meaningless computer maintainence than when you got lots of bugs and no computer.

Blogathain't
Be glad I'm not doing a personal blogathon of giving you hourly updates of this 48 hour - 5(or7) day thing. I'd bore you and I don't think you'd much like my personality half the time. Heck, I don't even like my own idead half the time either! <gets woozy again> No I'm not drunk, just haven't slept. What were we talking about? Personaility? I don't have personality...
I do got this thing inside of me asking when it can go back to bed so that the rest of us will shut up and go away.

Well, that's it- I'm off!
First I get my second wind and then it blows away, then they said it would storm and it's still sunny out. :-/ Not to mention they say I have a tiny room and yet we still overpack like always...
But all that aside, we gotta go now! I'll let y'all know how everything goes/went as soon as I can. I'll try and type out a few posts on the ancient laptop (that thing needs a name) if I can. Thank you for your continued support and prayers!

PC-Cillian
I've got a small beef with this program and it's this: after every scan it makes, it displays "Scan complete. File virus was not detected" when your computer comes up clean.
Is it just me or does that read like there's a file virus on the computer and the program just wasn't able to detect it?
Next time try "Scan complete, no viruses detected."

Sleepless Night #1
So far, the week has been a bit miserable with lots of rain and not-so-good sleeping habits. Then last night on my last night of sleepiness, I had a bad night's worth of sleep. Nice. 48 hours on bad sleep. This should show up on the EEG quite nicely! :-D
Since daytime was pretty much a baseline "normal" today, tomorrow should start up the rest of the trouble. Just hope I can take the extra pain... I doubt I'll be posting much during this whole ordeal, but I am taking Dad's ancient laptop (a pre-Windows Windows without windows) with me to MUSC so maybe I can squeeze in some stuff for here! :-) Thanks again y'all!

Finding Captain Nemo
Ok so wrong Nemo but there *was* a submarine. :-) Alrighty, I didn't make mental notes while watching this so my memory's a little...uh...well, I'm in good company. Now if this new edit window will stop reloading on me, I can get on with the review. I'll *try* to go in order here. <::ahem::>
Coral Yes the beginning was darker but at least there was one fish left. I read that spoiler so I didn't cry or anything.
school You knew there were gonna be puns! :-D But this was just the first of about a billion! There were FAR more puns in this one than all the other Pixars! But as for school, I've never heard a ray sing before. Was his name Charles by any chance? I forgot...
Clownfish How did I know they were gonna pull *that* gag about them being funny?
butt the boat Kids. You gotta have someone (or something) be the butt of a joke.
Tanked Something tells me I'm never gonna put another fish into a tank. That one with the bubbles... :-D
The Quest Nice new storyline. Me like!
Dori I don't like Ellen Degenerate but I like her voice here. For some reason, whenever I see someone with an enourmous amount of spunk who can find LOADS of fun in the smallest of anything, I think of DG. Thankfully DG doesn't have that kind of a memory problem and DG's not degenerate. DG does like blue tho! (and I know my memory's bad but at least it ain't THAT bad!
Sharks! Most people when they're growing up have teddy bears. I had a great white shark. As a result, I don't like Jaws all that much so I was a wee bit weird on the sharks here...then I saw the movie and I think mine would approve! Fisheaters Anonymous!
mine The mine is mine! BOOM!
Deep Black Sea Glow in the Dark fish are not friendly. I love how they played with the light and how they got away!
I think....they went...here next:
Impressive Remember the preview with the skiddish fish just before Monsters Inc? They did not show that scene in this movie but they did show the fish. It must have been an earlier version of the same scene and I like the movie version better. Watch these guys, they're cool!
JELLIES! <::bouncybouncybouncybouncybouncybouncy...::> <everyone wants a jellfish-shaped trampoline now>
Surfs up DUDE! A hero in a half shell. "Don't hurl on my shell I just waxed it!" With Turtle Wax no less. :-D LOVE those guys and the little ones are SO CUTE!!! The current reminded me of hyperspace from Star Wars and the wormholes of Contact. I'd like to take a spin on that thing!
Grapevine? I didn't think grapes grew underwater. Glad to hear the tank guys have a pelican for a friend!
Speaking of tank guys... I don't like dentists either, but I'm glad they think it's a spectator sport. Irony here: the fish watch people. ;-)
Lava so much! Hey Sharkbait! Love the tank! Are y'all swimming in your own ****? BUBBLES!
Do you speak whale? yEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEs I dOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! Wanna ride in my mouth Pinocchio? Oh wait, you were telling the truth. I think I'll blow the stack!
Safe harbor I don't think you wanna eat those two fish dude...
MINE! There were 2 mines. Oh great. Nice one Chris. ;-) I still think those mines are mine. MINEMINEMINEMINEMINE! Might wanna fix your sail tho. :-D
Brace yourself They certainly managed to make a gruesome kid. Psycho music was good too. Poor fish! Smart Nemo. Smart fish indeed! I'm sure the waiting room was scared.
All drains lead to the ocean How on earth did Nemo get out of that pipe? Oh yeah, he popped out, duh! HEY! HEY! HEY! Crabbies!
Tuna it down! Everybody swim DOWN! Looks like you can learn a lot in a think tank. ;-)
Back home Nice reunion! Glad to see Dori's got a good anchor for her memory now! And the new filter is...broken! :-D So how do they get out of the bags?
Credits WAY BETTER THAN OUTTAKES! Thing is, I know they were saying something, but you can't hear it cuz there's music playing. Thankfully there's no more *Randy* Newman, but there's still a Newman. I'm getting SO SICK of Newman! Almost makes me think they gave him the Oscar to get rid of him. Hate to say it, but there it is. Did you see Mikey? :-)
Snowglobe Another one of Pixar's old shorts was at the beginning. I liked For the Birds much better tho. There was that tank thing going on tho...
That's the best I can do for a review for ya. I'd do more except I was laughing so absolutely HARD! I don't think I've laughed that hard at a movie in a theater since...gee...I dunno. I'm DEFINATELY gonna see it on the bigscreen again if I can. We were in the crap theater and it looked like it wasn't widescreen but who cares? I LOVED THIS MOVIE!!! WOOHOO!!! }-((((*>

The blogroll to the bottom left has been changed around. I just don't read that many other blogs but it was time to change the roster anyway. Plus it's late at night and I needed something to do before turning in cuz I didn't wanna goto sleep just yet. Some of the links also "speak"...the at the bottom blogroll comment on the titles.

Prepared for James Lipton
I've thought about this a few times and it seems to me that not only is thinking VERY good (I figured this out VERY early in life and it's as relevant today as it was back then), but it's also quite fun if you can think ahead. I already think in my head so this really isn't that much of a stretch.
But seriously, when you watch too much of Inside the Actors Studio, you start to wonder what you'd answer if you ever got asked that questionnaire he always poses (forgot who originally wrote it, some French guy) to his guests at the end of each show. So here goes:
What is your favorite word? 'Sure!' or 'Cool!'
What is your least favorite word? 'No' or 'Fear'
What turns you on? color
What turns you off? torture
What is your favorite curse word? 'aw sh*t' or 'crap dammit'
What sound or noise do you love? nice music and I'd count the Washington D.C. Metro's ding-dong as musical
What sound or noise do you hate? anything annoying, scary, or heart-rendering like very loud thunder, a subwoofer, a bad ad jingle's hook, or someone crying/screaming in pain (but not in that order)
What profession other than yours would you like to attempt? I don't have a profession right now but I'd like to try something in the performing arts since I'm already involved with computers :-)
What profession other than yours would you not like to attempt? anything either in a 9-5 office or involving manual labor
If Heaven exists, what would you like to hear God say when you arrive at the Pearly Gates? "Everything's fine, I understand, come on in!"
Yes I know I have more than one answer for a bunch of these, but that's just the way I am. :-D What would your answers be?

RAMSSM?
Don't ask me why cuz I don't know either but that wasn't the first time that the layout decided to turn RASSM into a musical when making a name for the link. Can you imagine the NRG in a chorus line?
Anyway it's fixed now. I'm sure somewhere a blug is laughing -er- cackling.

The back button
Wanna hear something else weird? <"no" -ed.> I know my cd player is getting old because a few times now whenever I've pushed the button for the next preset station *forward*, it's gone backwards instead!
I knew NPR was jealous of all my other stations cuz it gets the least amount of playtime, but I draw the line when it starts horning in on my *cd player*!!! It's bad enough that it's already infected my stereo due to the roof of the house. There are these times where I'll turn on 104.7 WNOK and instead, I'll end up getting 88.1 NPR instead!!! Then I change the preset to another station and guess what I get instead? :-P
NPR is jealous. The roof hates me. Tilson hates jazz. So does Johnny. <"so do I now shut up" -ed.>
<plans to shut -ed. up in NPR's trash bin>
Coulda been worse I suppose, coulda happened with the emergency broadcast stations...
