I'm deeply moved

I mean, I must be. I'm buried deep in various boxes and assorted stuff in my room and I'm going to bed later and later and later into the pm and it's turned into the am. In other words, I'm back to normal. I must be moved.

Others are not quite so moved, or not in the same ways as I am. Dad was doing the happy fire ant dance at the other house while doing some last minute gardening <can't hold it in> before we vacate the premises.

And then there's the cable man who gave us digital cable whether we liked it or not (whole area is getting automatic upgrades, much like YACCS), and now I have a large cable crossing the floor from one side of my room to another. Yet another thing to annoy the vacuum cleaner with and to trip on in the middle of the night.

At least it's directly between the door and the bed so that when you trip you have something soft to land on.

If you don't fall over some boxes and various assorted stuff later and later into the am before you go to bed in the meantime.

YACCS Yacks (aka JAFT)

Apparently YACCS wants us to upgrade and this is what we on RASSM would call a JAFT to make sure the thing works. So...here goes!

Did it work? PLEASE comment on this post to help me make sure! Thanks! :-)

Opening Day

I told myself that I would not open my AOTC figures utnil I've seen the movie. Well, it's been at least 2 weeks and I finally got to opening them! Good news is that the Jedi hot rod car is out of the box, the bad news is that everyone was right in that barely anyone can fit into it. :-( I had to pull out most of my figures and try 'em out to see who all can drive it.

I SO wanted Count Dooku to take Zam Wessel out for a spin, but it looks like he gets to chase after Slave Anakin and Knight Kenobi on top of the stereo. Zam's created a back seat of sorts for herself on the back of Maul's speeder and Maul obviously does not like her tell him to stop for directions...especially since it's Yoda on the disco dias that they'd be asking. Yoda looks a bit jealous of Maul actually...

Well now, this leaves a gaping hole in the bookcase next to the Lego Emperor and Vader so I'll have to fill the void with someone there...

Remote places...

Greetings, I am in Birmingham and Dad's friend is being very nice and letting me blog from his computer! Ain't he nice? :-) Thanks Jack!

Well, I had hoped to update this thing sooner but with the move and all y'know...I was gonna have a nice long post or series of posts with fun 'moving updates'.

Like: His Royal Slugness has left the building, the neighbors' war with the squirrels (aka "bb guns"), the yellow monitor, the figure chests, the spiders, the very strange Terminator noise, the unearthing of the earliest rainbow wears, the ressurection of the infamous Barbie Lego Wheelchair (year 2002 model D)...

Y'know, stuff like that. I *was* gonna mention them in a nice elaborate way, but now I figure I won't even mention them until I get a free moment. <sigh> Well, I guess that idea's out the window...

;-)

some more smiles? and tree-hugging

One of my little cousins just finished 2nd grade and they were required to keep a year-long journal. Needless to say while at dinner tonight, her Mom was reading some entries to us tonight. One entry included class picture day. Now we'd all obviously seen the pic and this girl just does NOT like to smile for the camera. Well, according to my sweet little cousin's journal, she was miffed because they were being told to pose for the camera by "hugging" a fake tree. This cousin takes after me in that she's got a "don't shit me" attitude that pops up. Well, needless to say she wasn't smiling. The cameraman saw this and asked her to please smile "pretty mama you gorgeous little chick peaches babe!"

If it were me the guy was talkin' to, I woulda shot him.

Me? I've only had 3 "class photos" name-calling incidents. Twice I was called Princess Diana (by the same photographer at the same school in different years) and once I was called Blossom. I had that "don't shit me/ you must be crazy" reaction in my head for the first and total "you have GOT to be kidding (shitting) me!" on that last one. Apparently I was pretty lucky- I have no idea who my cousin's photographer was, but DAMN! >:-P

Butcha gotta admit, *you* were ROTFL too when you first read that right? ;-)

roadside spam- ham & Pork

The Porkinites are gonna love this one: two doors down from our subdivision is a Heavenly Ham and like many profitible businesses, they have a bullitien/ad board at the front of the property by the side of the road. Today it reads: "Every day is a good day for ham." It was refreshing to see the board say something other than "sale" and price listings, but why oh why did I have to think of Sith War-esque fatass Archon Jade and a bunch of gluttons gobbling up food in a large dining hall when I saw that sign?

some smiles and tree-hugging

Mom & I were working to make the yard look more presentable and we hadn't quite decided on where to put this Smiley thermometer we have outside. I had it against the wall. Well, I went inside for awhile and when Mom called me back later, it turns out that she moved the Smiley from the wall to a tree...or rather INto a tree. I'm talking about a tree that's shaped like the "V" of a peace/victory sign and Mom had somehow wedged the Smiley in between the two halves of the trunk so that the Smiley is now prominently "on display". I can't help but laugh when I see that!

Carded

While taking a break from moving the 2 offices and the house, my 2 cousins and I stopped in the hobby shop that rents from us and I got to looking at the Pokémon cards. I saw 3 Wigglytuff cards! Since the prices of the things have plumetted (sp?), that meant that I could get the Wigglytuff for only $3! So I did. :-) I also asked him if he had a Jigglypuff as well and he let me have a promo Jigglypuff one for free! :-D

Jiggly & Wiggly

I also saw that the guy had VHS's of the Star Wars trilogy just sitting there on the counter. Go ahead and pause for breath now- the tapes were of the original releases!!!! As in 1977, 1980, and 1983!!!!!! I asked him if they were for sale and apparently he didn't wanna get rid of 'em (duh). And then shortly, this other kid came in and offered to buy them off him too. I half-jokingly offered to do a bid war, but the guy's not getting rid of the tapes. I need to find some.

If George Lucas never releases the original, non-Special Edition versions of A New Hope, Empire Strikes Back, and Return of the Jedi on DVD then he'll be enraging and disheartening countless millions of fans and film archivists worldwide. Even if you do prefer the Special Editions, Mr. Lucas would be doing a great disservice if he didn't release the originals again.

Well, in the end, the guy at the store showed me a signed-by-Mark-Hamill poster he has and a couple of Star Wars stickers/cards from 1977. He let me have one of those for free too!

1977 Star Wars behind-the-scenes card

It reads: Movie Facts #15 of 22
In devising the special make-up, Rick Baker worked from sketches by himself, Ron Cobb, and Ralph McQuarrie. Rick Baker born in 1950, developed all of the American-shot cantina creatres; those filmed in England were created by Stuart Freeborn.

He doesn't have much Star Wars stuff in the shop and something tells me he's not that much of a fan. At least, not nearly as big a fan as my cousins, the other kids, or myself. Still, he's a nice guy! :-)
