Spring Migration
We're in the middle of another 3-day 30° temp dive right now. The daffodils in the yard keep sprouting and blooming while we get the occaisional 'winter weather advisery'. Clearly the daffies don't watch the tv. They just keep blooming in their groups from west to east. It's like there's a daffodil critter under the flowerbed that's moving towards the "outhouse" one bunch at a time.
Tulips have a different protocol. They initially rise in unison and then hold their position for until they're sure you've completely given up on their blooming, and then POP!
The crosuses (croci?) masquerade as meek little things. "One little two little three little croci...four little five little six little croci........seven little eight little nine little croci....50 little croci blooms!"
The late-pruning of the grape arbor went well, now it's seeping/sapping quite nicely. Hopefully the crop will be bigger than last year. As for the bird population- that's my fault, yesterday I put out the first batch of new birdfood for several months. I still don't understand why our finches don't eat finch food. At least we've got bluebirds checking out the bluebird house in our front yard! It'd be nice to host some nesters again this year.
And Kayla the drowsy dragon just keeps on sleeping...
