Which war?
I keep hearing people comparing 9/11 to the Civil War. I think that's a mis-statement. I think the *words* from the Civil War (we're talking Lincoln here obviously) apply, but 9/11 is not a civil war. It's more like the Revolutionary War, where we fought for our own freedom against tyranny, and WWII where we were attacked in the attempt to subdue, conquer, and enslave us.
The civil wars going on are within ourselves and in us freeing fellow humans overseas from tyrannies against which they have little or no defense.
So you see it's complicated. Last year, people weren't comparing this war to others as much as they are today. I'd like to keep it that way, because there really is no war we can really compare this to.
