Re-Rhode Island Trip
I *think* this is in order:
The cd-to-stereo cassette tape died when I took out a wool blanket that started to disentegrate and stick to everything. I *almost* paid DG an unexpected visit on the way up, and got stuck in traffic in between the red line and the George Washington Bridge for about an hour on the way back.
The New Jersey Turnpike also seemed to have something against us this go-round as we had trouble getting onto it on the way up and getting off of it on the way back- promptly getting lost both times. The beltway around Raleigh doesn't seem to like us either.
The great chinese joint seemed to have disappeared off of the map or at least from the highway sign vocabulary. It was nowhere near as cold as it was back in January, but I dressed twice as warmly. We got the room next door to where we were last time (mirrored layout of course). Wasn't on the boat very long but it was a shock to see it all gutted like that (yes the bilge is gross but not nearly as much as you'd think).
I lived thru the first major annual meeting and went to my first cocktail party (no I didn't drink and yes I got bored), but I got sick during dinner (who has an impromptu dinner meeting after a cocktail party anyway?) and slept thru the second one the next day- meeting that is.
The biggest motivation for going home quickly was the voting booth. The second was that my birthday present came just *hours* after I left to go up. Same thing happened to poor DG who called the hotel just *hours* after we left to go back down! :-P
No snow. :-( Lots of wind. :-P Computer didn't screw up. :-)
So basically my trip to Rhode Island was one big do-si-do (ARGH!) but I still had fun. :-D
